My opinion of the best mash-up/remix:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLA7JMPE_xU
This is a mash-up of all the top charting songs of 2010. DJ Earworm does this every year. I think this is appealing because it takes all the top hits, that everyone knows and likes and combines them. It’s also an easy way to see who topped the charts for this year. The importance of the skillfulness in this case is very important. It wouldn’t be as appealing to the audience if the different songs did not flow well together. I don’t think it matters if you know the source material or not because different clips of different songs will make you want to search for it afterwards. I think people should be allowed to do this, especially because it exposes people to more music then they are used to. It also works as a way to show others how skillful they are at combining two unlike things such as several songs that are in completely different keys.

What can the College of St. Rose learn from other college websites:
I think CSR can learn to make the website easier to use and navigate around. Almost all the other school websites we looked at today are easier to use. All the information is easy to find and can be found from the home page. I also think Saint Rose should work on its Twitter and Facebook pages. Updating events and such through these pages would remind people of things that go on around the school. I think it would benefit the website if they added things to do around campus as well, similar to the University of Washington website. Since we live in a city, it would be nice to know what parks or museums are close by that students can enjoy in their free time.

My opinion on Facebook and how helpful it is:
I think that Facebook, depending on how it’s used, can be both a positive and negative tool. It’s positive in a way that it makes the world smaller and it makes it easier to contact people across the world. Because I have family in different countries, Facebook makes it easier to contact them despite the extreme time differences. Without Facebook, I, or one of my cousins, would have to stay up late or wake up fairly early in order to talk, which was never convenient. With Facebook, we just post on each other’s walls or write messages. It saved time as well as money because we weren’t making expensive cross-continental phone calls. The negative aspect of Facebook is that it sucks up a lot of my free time. I often end up spending at least an hour on it, even if my intention was to spend a minute or two checking the news feed and my notification/messages. All the ads and addicting games end up sucking up all my time which leads me to procrastinate on things I have to do like school work or laundry.
